Figuring out what newborn baby essentials you need for your baby is overwhelming and honestly exhausting. You know you need to get your baby registry taken care of but the last thing you want to do is try to remember everything you were told you’d need from friends and family members, while also trying to get everything else done before the munchkin arrives.
I get it, I’ve been there. But luckily since I’ve been there, I have an incredible list of products I absolutely could not have done without.
If you have any questions at all, please feel free to leave a comment or message me and I’ll get back ASAP! I know this time can be stressful!
1 // Halo BassiNest Glide Sleeper
Game. Changer! Thing thing slides so easily around the house which makes life so much better. Its super lightweight so you can be holding the baby while sliding this where you need it to be. This thing lived in every room at one point in time and Shay loved it. She slept in this next to me for about 6 months, I think.
Halo: BassiNest Glide Sleeper 189.00 (Also available at Walmart, Target, buybuy Baby, Khol’s)
2 // DockATot Deluxe+ Dock
Okay, I’ll be honest. We didn’t have one, but fuck I wish we got it. I had it on my registry and then took it off last minute, but I REALLY wish I hadn’t. I’ve heard nothing but amazing things. Definitely get one but please use your best judgement for having your child sleep in it at night. It could be a suffocation hazard with the sides being raised like bumpers.
They have so many colors and patterns available, this was just the easiest to see pictured.
DockATot Deluxe+ Dock 195.00 (Also available at Nordstrom, Target, Pottery Barn, The Tot, and Monica + Andy)
3 // Graco Simple Sway Baby Swing
There are so many swings on the market, some a lot cuter than this or more techy, but Shay lived in this swing. It was her happy place and she would nap in her consistently. It got the job done, didn’t take up too much space, and was easy to build. Overall I was super pleased with it.
Graco Simple Sway Baby Swing 74.99 (This is the best price, but also available on the Graco site and buybuy Baby)
4 // Bag Nation Diaper Bag Backpack
Again, there are so many cuter diaper bags out there but this one was genius for me. The functionality of the bag was life saving. It also comes with a diaper changing mat and clips that hook on to yo ur stroller so you’re not lugging it around. One side has an insulated pocket for bottles in addition to tons of pockets on the inside. I love it.
Bag Nation Diaper Backpack 59.95 (Disclaimer: I am an Amazon Affiliate which means I get a small commission when purchased at no additional cost to you.)
5 // Halo Swaddle
Swaddles. Who knew wrapping a kid up like a burrito could be so complicated. There are so many swaddle options and you might have to test a few out. Shay hated being swaddled but I found this one to be her favorite. It also transitions to allowing the baby to have their arms out safely if your kid doesn’t like feeling restricted. Keep in mind when you’re baby starts to roll on their side its time to switch to having their arms free!
Halo Swaddle Premium Cotton 21.99 (Also available at buybuy Baby and Target)
6 // My Breast Friend Deluxe Nursing Pillow
I did not breast feed so I did not use this, but I would have! This helps ease up back strain, gives your tired arms a break, and is great for keeping baby in a desired position for breast feeding. Make those early AM feedings more comfortable if you can!
My Breast Friend Nursing Pillow 38.95 (Also available at buybuy Baby) (Disclaimer: I am an Amazon Affiliate which means I get a small commission when purchased at no additional cost to you.)
7 // WildBird Sling
Slings became a necessity when Shay became more clingy at times. It made it super easy to get things done around the house while having her on my hip. Wildbird is a great brand and their slings are so beautifully made. This one in particular is the “Aries” pattern.
WildBird Aries Sling 89.95
8 // Warmies
I actually just got this for Shay to help her sleep, and then I got myself one, but YA’LL! Why didn’t I have this from the beginning! It’s heaven. It’s a microwavable plush stuffed with dried lavender and it is amazing. They have so many different animals and designs in addition to tons of options in sizing and also other products as well. Enjoy!
Hippo Warmies 13″ 24.95
9 // White Noise Machine
I have been using a white noise machine with “Shay Bae” since she was born. She loves it and it helps draw out any surrounding noises that might wake the baby up. There are so many different ones, some that are iPhone operated, some that are night lights also, but this one has been enough for us.
Marpac Dohm Classic White Noise Machine 44.95 (Also available at Target, Bed Bath & Beyond, buybuy Baby, Best Buy) (Disclaimer: I am an Amazon Affiliate which means I get a small commission when purchased at no additional cost to you.)
10 // Owlet Smart Sock
This. One. Right. Here. During my pregnancy I read way too much about the scary things that can happen during a child in their sleep. I don’t want to say it because I happens too often, but we all know what I’m talking about. This sock, whether it truly helped or not, gave me the ability to sleep again which I’ll be forever grateful for. The Owlet Smart Sock monitors your baby’s oxygen level and heart rate and alerts you immediately if their levels get low. It reduced my anxiety enough to stop watching over Shay while she was sleeping and get some sleep for myself and honestly, that is priceless.
Owlet Smart Sock (3rd generation) 299.99 (Also availabe at Target an buybuy Baby)
11 // Ingenuity™ Cozy Spot Reversible Activity Gym in Loamy
I can’t find the identical one I have, but this is basically the same. These cute little tummy time activity gyms are great! There are so many different ones on the market, so have fun with it. I like ones that are extra padded so when they start to roll over, their precious little heads are protected from their uncoordinated landings.
